synopsis

Not many people know that I, Eevie Lawson, have a problem. An addiction to romance novels. I eat them for breakfast. I hide it the best I can, but I need them to breathe. It’s how I cope.

I’ve had a swag of book boyfriends, but now that I’m free from the responsibility of caring for my three younger brothers, it’s time to find one in the flesh.

In real life, no girl meets their hero on page one, or even at the end of chapter one. I should know.

My journey is real. It’s not perfect, and it sure as hell isn’t easy—but the fight for something worthwhile never is.

review

The one that sparks your attention will always hold a place in your heart. The enchantment of Spark by debut author Jennifer Ryder had been gushing and swooning from the very beginning. You know when a swoon worthy writer comes along in a merry of so many writers from around the world because they grab your attention. Jennifer did exactly that with Spark. I loved it because we were introduced a narrative that I think is so relatable to what teenagers and adults go through. The narrative shows not every relationship has a happy ending, but sometimes if you wait and you trust that somewhere love is out there it will find you. Eevie is the reason why I love to read, in definition. She has soul, heart and an uncharacteristic way of finding a dream through all that she has dealt with in past relationships and family life.

From the bottom of my heart the love that was created between Eevie and Aidan is a testament to writing a strong narrative that intertwines relatable emotions within characters.  The narrative is very coming of age, and how relationships change, develop and can be challenged by a range of different things. I laughed and awed at some of the cute heart-to-heart scenes between Eevie and Aidan. Jennifer did a tremendous job at putting together two characters, who have loved, been hurt and finding a growth that both mutual develops through the narrative. I think Eevie conveys emotion that everyone finds within themselves at one time or another and that is why I loved it.

Overall, I give Spark by Jennifer Ryder a 5++ Lit Love because it speaks so true of the uncanny feeling of emotion, that can happen at the right time. Sometimes, you have to go through heart ships to get to where your suppose to be, and that’s what I felt like Jennifer did. If I could find a guy like Aidan that’s the next issue. He is breathtakingly awesome. I can’t wait for the next book in the series as I envision romance, charm and a breathtakingly awesome career for Jennifer.

*BOOK REVIEW* Without You by Julie Prestsater

I’m slowly catching up on writing reviews. I read too many books and then have a list a mile long of reviews to write. Today’s review is on Without You by Julie Prestsater.

20815334

synopsis

When two people connect, they can make beautiful music together. But what happens when music is the thing that tears them apart?

Evan James had it all. Drop-dead sexy, brilliantly talented musician, a skyrocketing career and his high school sweetheart by his side. When he’s offered a golden opportunity to go on tour, he never imagined she wouldn’t go with him. Without her, he found his dream meant nothing. Three years later, bereft and alone, Evan stops at an open mic night and spots someone sitting in the audience, the beautiful face of a woman he’d never forget…Maddy, his one true love.

Madison Grey had only ever loved one man. When Evan broke her heart she had no choice but to move on with her life, start a career of her own, and she even finds a new love. Still, thoughts of Evan were never put to rest. And on one fateful night, she unexpectedly hears him pour his heart out into a new song. A song about broken hearts, lost love, and second chances. A song about her.

With the help of their scheming friends, Maddy and Evan are thrown into each other’s lives once more. While learning to love and trust again, there is only one thing left on both of their minds… Is life better with or without you?

review

In every song we write, in every word we write there is meaning. Without You by Julie Prestsater shone light in a charismatic narrative that dove into love and how a chance re-encounter after 3 years may ignite old feelings or destroy their emotions even more so.

I absolutely loved the narrative because Evan James is drop-dead swoon worthy I tell you. I fell in love with the incorporation of music and how like so many musicians that go on tour without the women they love drive so much raw emotion when united. Without You is a tale that brings the ‘true love will fight despite of distance, emotion or time passed.’ Madison was broken by the love of Evan that left her; I find that relates to so many different personal experiences and what people not only musicians go through. Julie made the narrative believable, the romance raw and the written word of lyrics powerful and beyond precious.

Overall, the narrative is like a sonnet of powerful words expressing ones love for what was lost and what was found again. I rated Without You a 5++ Lit Love. The musical lyrics brought heart and sole into a beautifully written piece by Julie Prestsater. Evan and Madison grew with the help of a few meddling friends to find love, trust and passion again. Without You is definitely a favourite of 2014.

review

The purpose of music is to convey a lovely eminent soundtrack to the heart. Different genres, and different worlds collide in the beautifully written book ‘Made in Nashville’ by Mandy Baggot.

The music of conveying emotions can sometimes be best done through the feelings we hold. I absolutely loved Made in Nashville it was a raw and emotional read into how you find love and how in the music industry life secrets are never secret for long and the public persona that is spread leaks little to what is true. I loved the portrayal of Honor Blackwood are the up and coming bright country star who because of an attack is left not knowing the cards to the future and what she really wants. Enter the bad boy of country Jed, on the eye of every fan girl and media outlet he sets something unique within his character personally. Jed to me was the lead of the good and bad combined, he invoked all the feelings of truth worthy and loyal but also had the distinction of secretive and vulnerable about his past.

The scenes that I enjoyed the most were the quiet scenes where we so much character development in how Honor and Jed feel. Emotionally what drives this narrative is the will to move past your demons and create a life that you enjoy. I loved turning over every page because Honor and Jed brought out the best in each other. Through all the twists and turns of Honors ex-boyfriend being signed to  her label and will she perform at the Marlon Festival the country scene adapted in this narrative flows and keeps you wanting to read.  The ending leaves resolution and warmth with stones turned in to new beginnings and because of the chance meeting an amazingly good read.

Overall, I rated ‘Made in Nashville’ an amazing 5-Lit Love, because it was a beautifully written delightful read of the country scene and how moving forward can sometimes be hard but it opens up a world of opportunities to face with passion, grief, love and an ever present love for country.

*COVER REVEAL* Re-Reveal: Caught Up In Us & Pretending He’s Mine by Lauren Blakely

We are so excited to bring to you Lauren Blakely’s new covers for CAUGHT UP IN US and PRETENDING HE’S MINE today! Lauren gave us a special message to share with you about why the covers are changing.

Caught
Up in Us and Pretending He’s Mine are my first two books, and
while I have great affection for the original covers and the way readers responded to those two romances, I wanted the covers to better
match the look of the rest of my books. I began working with the Sarah
Hansen at Okay Creations starting with Trophy Husband and she went on
to also design Playing With Her Heart’s cover as well as my No Regrets
series. I love the work she did on those books, and while she was busy
creating the cover for my next novel, Night After Night (releasing in
May!), I asked Helen Williams at All Booked Out to do a cover makeover
for Caught Up in Us and Pretending He’s Mine so that those could match
Playing With Her Heart’s look. Helen does amazing work and has done
many graphics for me and other book covers, so I knew she would be
able to do a brilliant redo — she also redid the covers in only one
weekend!! It was a fast turnaround and I am thrilled with the new
looks, and especially how well all the books play together now. And to
celebrate the redesign as well as the one-year anniversary of
Pretending He’s Mine this month, I will be offering Pretending He’s
Mine for free on iBooks starting today and through the weekend! (It’s
possible Amazon might price match the free offering, but I can’t
guarantee what Amazon will do so if you want to read it for free, snag
it on iBooks!)

Aren’t they gorgeous? See below for individual pictures of each new cover and all of the information on each, as well as where you can find Lauren and stalk-we mean follow-her!

It’s LIVE!  Crazy Love is finally live!!

synopsis

After dropping out of law school, Sam Beaumont fears coming home will either be like sucking poison 18004527out of snakebite or drowning in a bathtub of gin. He dreads the whirlwind of being a blue-blood in Savannah, and between his mother and his brother a peaceful existence is out of the question.

Miles away from her ugly past, Annie Clarke is thriving in pharmacy school. Uncomfortable with her own success, she begins to fall back to her self-sabotaging ways.

Then along comes Trip Beaumont, a hot, edgy artist. Every instinct in her says run, which only makes him that much more tempting. The day she finally agrees to go out with him, his younger brother, Sam, shows up. Sam’s first words about Trip chill her: “Don’t be fooled by the act. Prince Charming is a toxic monster.”

Annie soon sees that Sam’s callous exterior is a direct result of coping with a family as dysfunctional as her own. Could love shield them both from spiraling into madness, or will their crazy worlds collide like renegade storm fronts leaving devastation and destruction in their wake?

review

When love takes its course, who can control it? Crazy Love introduces Sam and Annie as the main protagonists in a character driven point of view narrative written by Michelle Pace.  I really enjoyed reading Crazy Love as a new contemporary romance that guided a special tale of love.

As love stories come and go through reading book after book, what stood out with these characters is how they interacted with each other and how perspectives whether they be current or from the past guided the narrative. We the reader got to explore how Annie grew up and explore how she begins to let down her guard to those who she trusts.

Annie reminds me of the fight, that so many young teenagers and adults have to go through. The demonstration of Annie’s fight is brought forward when she hangs out with Trip, Sam’s brother. A connection that is safe. Well she thinks is safe anyway. Seeing Annie with Trip puts same through a ringer as he has eyes for her. Sam initially comes across as the bad guy, who to Annie is seen to be playing havoc with what she believes. I loved meeting Trip and his back story with Violet that developed and how because of his past, it guided what Sam and others thought of him.

In Crazy Love, the characters of Sam and Annie draw you into a world full of vulnerability, pain and that is what makes Crazy Love relatable to the reader. The character’s draw so much passion and this book drives a very down to earth romance of passion and feeling.

Overall I rated Crazy Love a 5 Lit-Love because I thought it was a terrific read and showed just how sometimes letting your guard down and opening yourself up to new things can turn into a sonnet of passion and romance. Definitely one to put on your TBR list.

excerpt

“There you are, Dahlin’.” She barely lifted her gaze from the paper as I obediently pecked her leathery cheek. “Are you going to the gallery today?”  One of Mama’s pet projects is a gallery on River Street. She’d named it Imogene’s, after herself.  Two nights before, she had announced that she’d arranged for me to work there while I decided what I want to be when I grow up. Or more likely while I continued to decide what I don’t want to be.  “Yes, Ma’am.” I planned to do nothing of the sort, and she probably suspected as much. And so we continued our age-old dance. She and I were bizarre tango partners, but we were well rehearsed.
“I’ll hit the gym after.”
“You really need to go and visit your brother.  He must think you’re avoiding him.” She sipped her chicory-laden coffee and fixed her steely eyes on mine. I’m not sure what she was looking for as she searched me for a reaction, but I’d be damned if I were going to flash any tells.
I am avoiding him. I want to see him about as much as I want to scratch my back with a cheese grater.
“Fine. I’ll go see him. Is he still living down the street from Vi?” Trip’s wife, Violet, had kicked him out about two years ago. I had to give her credit; she’d stayed with him a hell of a lot longer than I’d wagered she would. To Vi’s misfortune they had a child, so the divorce wasn’t exactly a clean break.  Stalking her was one of Trip’s favorite pastimes. It was bizarre how committed he could be when he made up his mind to persevere. Too bad he couldn’t just make up his mind to stay sane and sober.
“No. That landlord had unreasonable expectations.”  Mama drawled. “He’s living in the Victorian District. I’ll text you the address.”  As she picked up her cell phone, her peach painted lips twisted as if she’s just sucked on a lemon.  Undoubtedly, the former landlord’s “expectations” included tenants who were neither drunk nor disorderly. These were terribly unrealistic expectations where Trip was concerned.
“Honestly, I don’t know why he doesn’t just live here.” She set down her phone, then folded her paper and tossed it aside.
“I imagine it’s not very bohemian to be thirty years old and live with your mother.” I offered, taking a bite of superb Eggs Florentine. Money problems or not, Cosmo found a way to retain both her chef and housekeeper.

**content is for +18yrs.**

review

Promise me?

Always!

The emotions and character driven narrative of Promise Me Always did more than make me want to turn the page to see what happens next. In what so many strive to do in writing a novel; Kari March had my attention and love for Promise Me Always from the beginning.

A guy with a heart of gold and protective strength is always hard to find.  The inter connection of Tessa and Blake grabbed my attention from the beginning pages as Tessa struggles with finding out the truth about her now ex-boyfriend. Through reading the narrative the connection of passion and love is seen through the dual point of view from both Tessa and Blake.

Blake is hands down my favourite character. He is the hero I think all girls would want to have at their sides. Within he faces his own set of demons from his troubled past and childhood but that made me love him more. Both Tessa and Blake had to learn how to be open with communication and tell their feelings.  The strongest part of the narrative was the openness and the characters expression when it came to conceding that the truth is more powerful than hiding your feelings.

The novel was not without the characters weaknesses driving a wedge into their relationships. The flawless moments were those when Tessa and Blake showed their passion and love for each other despite everything that had happened. I loved the group of friends that Tessa and Blake had. Cara was one of the character’s I believe had so much depth and luckily Kari March is devoting a whole book to Cam and Cara in Always Yours coming out later this year.

Kari’s writing and the narrative is absolutely flawless in showing emotional and pull into two characters who both have flaws but find love despite all of the obstacles that come their way. The pain was unbearable, but I had to keep moving. I had to keep running because, if I didn’t, he’d find me. I looked behind me as I ran through the streets; scared, alone, and in the dark as the mist of rain hit my face. There was no time to think, and there was no time to stop. My shoes were soaked as they sloshed through the puddles of the dimly lit streets.

My name is Rory Sinclair, and the night I was violently attacked was the night that changed my life forever. One man, a man named Ian Braxton, made it his mission to heal me, to save me, and to show me a world that previously had been only a dream to me.

Ian Braxton is far from perfect. He’s a self-absorbed, demeaning, arrogant, and womanizing millionaire. He makes it so easy to hate him, but so very hard to resist him. We’re from opposite sides of the spectrum. He comes from money and I come from poverty. When our worlds collide, his struggles become mine, and mine become his, leaving us with one question:

How much would you give up to be with someone who was meant to be yours?

As soon as I stepped through the door and into the kitchen, Ian grabbed me and pushed me up against the wall, holding my arms above my head. “Don’t turn your back on me, Rory. I’m sorry. I don’t think you’re trash. I think you’re broken and I can fix you,” he whispered in my ear.

His hot breath traveled down my neck and my body went into a near convulsion. I wanted him, but I knew if anything were to happen, it would destroy me. I would become too emotionally attached and when he got tired of me and moved on, I wouldn’t recover. He brought his face to mine as he stared into my eyes.

“I’m not broken. I’m shattered. I’m a million tiny pieces that would take longer than forever to piece back together. So please, do me the favor and don’t even try,” I whispered.

His grip on my arms lightened as he let go and took a step back, giving me one last look before he turned around and walked away. I stood and placed my hand on my neck where his hot breath had touched me. I took in a deep breath and walked upstairs. Tomorrow was the day I start my life over, alone.

Interview

Coming after the successful trilogy and novella in the Forever series, tell us a bit about the novel Lie Next to Me (A Millionaire’s love)?

The story is about learning to trust and finding your own strength and courage to keep moving forward and letting go of your fears.

Did you have to step out of your comfort zone in moving forward from the Forever trilogy, although the theme of wealth and being a womanizer at the beginning stands to be in similar with the male leads?

No, Lie Next To Me was very comfortable for me to write. Ian and Connor are similar in the fact that they’re both millionaires, but they come from different pasts and I think Ian is more closed off and not as vulnerable as Connor was. Ian is more of a jerk, lol.

Did you relate to a certain character within the novel or was there a personality trait that you explored that was new to you within the characters of Rory and Ian?

I could relate to Rory because she never gave up. No matter how bad her childhood was, she never let it define her in a negative way. She kept her head up and gained enormous strength from it. She’s a fighter and that’s how I’ve raised my daughters. Never give up, keep moving forward, and most importantly don’t let anyone bring you down.

Is Lie Next to Me a part of a series or a standalone book?

It’s part of a two book series for now. Will it become a trilogy? I don’t know yet. It’s up to Ian and Rory.

What do you enjoy most about writing and sharing your stories?

I love to give readers an escape from the daily grind of life and into a world of romance and possibilities. When I write, I escape and become so connected to the characters that they become part of my life and that’s what I love the most. I love to share my passion with my readers.

Tell us about your readership. What kind of readers do you hope this narrative appeals to?

To be honest, I hope it appeals to everybody. This book is mostly for readers that love romance and a HEA!

A lot of writers become authors by readings and falling in love with the notion of creating a world that can impact on a reader’s life. Did you always set out to be a writer and create the stories that you tell for the readers?

Ever since I was little, I had stories in my head that needed to be told so I would write them out in the form of poetry. I wrote a lot of poetry growing up and even won a few awards for them. About a year and a half ago, while I was working at the hospital and hating every waking second of it, I thought to myself, “There has to be more to life than this.” I also thought about my college English professor that pulled me aside one day and asked me if I had ever considered writing a novel based on stories I had to write for class. Writing has always provided me with an escape and I wanted to share some of my stories that were going on in my head with the world. I never thought in a million years that Forever Black would have touched the lives of so many people. It’s just amazing to me how the trilogy evolved and really had an impact on people’s lives, especially those with cancer.

Lastly, If there is one piece of advice you could give an inspiring author what would it be?

Have all your ducks in a row before you hit the publish button. An editor, cover designer, proofreader, beta readers and most importantly, support!
