BLURB:

Emma Harris is learning that life is just a series of lessons.

Lesson #1: Nothing goes the way you plan.

Lesson #2: You can’t trust men. Especially not the pretty ones.

Lesson #3: Turns out, appearances are almost always deceiving.

Emma thinks she has life all figured out, and what she knows isn’t good. For years, she’s put her big sister, who was born with Down syndrome, first. Now Emma’s ready to start her own life, but fate has other plans. To do the right thing for the sister she loves, Emma’s dreams will just have to wait.

She doesn’t plan on meeting Landon — a rich, flirtatious jock, who never has to wait for anything. Not for attention, not for money, and certainly not for girls. Meeting Emma marks the first time in his life that he’s had to fight for something. And Landon doesn’t know how to lose.

Emma has no interest in wasting her summer with a superficial guy like Landon. But very soon she realizes she is wrong about him. The question is, can she trust him? Or will he let her down like every other guy in her life? But most importantly, can Emma trust herself enough to live the life she’s always dreamed of?

Life has a way of sneaking in the most important lessons when you aren’t looking. And once the heart gets involved, that’s when the real learning begins.

Review

Not Yet by Laura Ward astonished and disbarred me. The uncanny and brilliant work of Laura was not seen or heard through just the words on the page but through the emotion in the characters. Emma and Landon create this electric and blood roaring passion that kept me reading from beginning to end. The novel does more than teach the lessons of moving forward, breaking down walls guarding your heart and taking a chance.

Not Yet enlightens a breathtaking journey of two people who despite some untold words come together in pure delight. It was both passionate & pure with the edge of rules being broken, a connection that can’t be shaken and so much more. I loved the story, it wasn’t your conventional love story which made it all the more desirable to read and see how the story develops. Through kinship, hard times, passion and a bond the narrative Laura preludes to write pure raw and flawless emotion. Landon is the prince in an army of misfit with Emma struggling with her emotions and if she will let someone in. A fun, beautifully written read that gripped me and tore me to shreds all in one. x Highly Recommended Read – 5 STARS~!

~REVIEW~

DEX!

One week, one chance at love.

Melody Grace is one of my favourite authors and I have followed her since I started blogging, so of course I jumped at the chance to read Uninhibited, the newest release in the Beachwood Bay series and the intertwining new series The Callahan’s. Uninhibited begins a few months after the prequel Unrequited following Dex and Alicia. At the width end of having a simple life, Alicia tempts fate by taking Dex up on his offer. One hot steamy sexcapading week of full of passion.

Never make the first move, never show a man I want him. Hiding my feelings, day after day. It’s second nature to me now, keeping it all locked inside.”

With passion in the eyes of the page, I loved how Alicia and Dex’s narrative grew. Alicia had her flaws and worries after fighting the feelings she had for a long time friend who was happy with someone else. Alicia’s development was beautiful and I could relate to her, going into a relationship where the regulations and rules of life didn’t fit to Dex’s persona and what she knew was challenged.

I admire and love how Melody creates character’s that challenge and compute to have flaws. Dex blames himself for faults of the past and I the intertwining chemistry and moral of can you let go of your past as well as finding who you want to be is why I loved the narrative and character’s so much.

“I don’t need anything else, just this. Just her. Mine. Always.”

Melody’s reads are always full of lighthearted fun and are beautifully written with sexy moments, which Dex and Alicia definitely delivered on. I loved how it wasn’t all about a brokenhearted rock star shadowing away, but it was a development of raw uninhibited love can be felt in being truthful, expressing desire and breaking down the walls to find. I love how Melody connects each book and creates strong dynamically sound characters we want to read. For both new and old fans Melody doesn’t shy away from leaving you with a book hangover and I loved the chemistry she created with Dex and Alicia.

~Book Description~

Some stories are a fairytale…but this isn’t one.

Caelan Gregory’s life fell apart the night he went home and opened the door to find his whole family murdered. Since then, his life has held no meaning. He’s angry. He’s bitter. He’s barely human anymore. There’s nothing left to remind him of the straight A student, and football quarterback he once was…but he wasn’t a good person then, and he’s certainly not a good person now. He’s retreated into a world where all that exists is numbness and his passion for painting.

When Sutton Hale moves into the apartment across the hall from Caelan she’s not prepared for her reaction to him. Something in his broken blue eyes calls to her—after all she’s always had an irrational need to fix everything.

But Caelan doesn’t do relationships or feelings. He does drugs and alcohol. However, he can’t ignore his desire to get to know the raven-haired woman across the hall.

Two broken souls trying to mend one another.

But not everything can be fixed.

In the end, Caelan and Sutton will have to learn that there is beauty in the ashes.

~Review~

So, Micalea DID IT AGAIN! She left me flawed and in a pool of so much emotion. Beauty in the Ashes is a masterpiece that can’t be reckoned with. It is not your average romance. It’s not your average story. It leaps bounds of passion and pain that seep through the pages in an undying catastrophic emotional read. Sutton and Caelan are the noise in a white background of pure. I’m telling you for every emotion that a felt, the heart that I could see within the pages was like sewing a bleeding heart that wouldn’t stop.

“She was beautiful. She was warm. She was vibrant. She was a fighter. She was everything I was not.”

Micalea has the ability to convey so much emotion in all her New Adult books and BitA was like a pool of ramped emotions that went on a joy ride running the outskirts of my whole body. In an apartment complex they meet, they love, they sore into a world that is full of many dangers.

“We were two broken souls, desperately trying to put ourselves back together. But not everything could be fixed.”

I don’t have many words that can convey how influential and how passion driven BitA is. Micalea deserves all the praise and more for the tremendous admiration and heart she put into Sutton and Caelan’s narrative. I implore you to read Beauty in the Ashes it’s not your average romance, but that’s what makes it beyond a shadow of a doubt phenomenal. Without any hesitation it is a 10 +++++++++ Rating for me!

~Author Interview~

Congratulations on the release of Beauty in the Ashes, tell us a bit about the story? How did it narrative come along to the piece it is?
Beauty in the Ashes tells the unconventional love story of an extremely broken man and a woman that’s just at broken, but better at hiding how messed up she really is.

Beauty in the Ashes has been a long time coming. I got the idea about six years ago now, but this story scared me so much that I never made it past the “curtain” scene. Back then I didn’t even have the guts to write the prologue. In February Caelan popped into my head once more and was like, “Hey, it’s time for my story to be told.” So, I knew it was finally time.

BitA is a unique, in that it’s not your traditional love story? Tell us what made you choose that path of creating a dark contemporary romance ?
Haha, I didn’t choose to tell this story, it chose me. I was really resistant to writing this story because I knew it was a big risk and lot of people would hate me for it, because it’s definitely not traditional. But Caelan and Sutton never went away. I always knew one day I’d sit down and write it, but I wasn’t sure I’d ever publish it. But no matter how dark and twisted it is, Caelan and Sutton deserved to have their story read. Plus, while it is a love story, it’s so much more. I hope that everyone that reads it (love it or hate it or just sorta liked it) comes away ‘getting’ the story and the point it made.

Did you always see Sutton and Caelan’s story, the way it evolved?
Absolutely. It’s why I was scared to write it.

What do you want the readers to get out of reading BitA?
That no matter what’s happened to you, you have the choice to get better. In fact, you have all the power. And sometimes, the love we want, isn’t the love we need.

You said recently that Beauty in the Ashes wasn’t its original title? Do you have a process as how you come up with titles? Is it incorporated into the book in a certain way?
Ah, yes, the original title was Misfits. (In fact, it was originally going to be told from FOUR POVs. Caelan, Sutton (who was originally named Kaylee), Daphne, and Cyrus. That obviously didn’t happen. It was too chaotic so I scraped it a loooong time ago.) I HAVE to have a title before I start writing a book, even if I change it later on, which I usually do. It helps me organize the story in my head and connect with it more because it has a name, lol. I really like the title to tie into the book somehow, even if the meaning is obvious to me and no one else it HAS to mean something. I really have no certain process for coming up with titles. They hit me at the most random times and when it feels right, I know it, because I stop thinking about changing it, haha.

BitA is different to your other New Adult series, was it hard to separate yourself and dive into the unknown knowing you wanted to tell this story?
It wasn’t that hard to separate myself at all. I was ready to tackle this book and do something different. I will say that it was extremely hard to write (the hardest one so far), but I’m definitely the most proud of it. I feel like a much stronger writer, having written this book.

So, I have to ask how do you come up with your cover designs. Time after time, you create really unique covers; do you go to a designer with a certain concept in mind or an idea?
I’m really lucky to have such an incredible cover designer/photographer with Regina Wamba of Mae I Design. We discuss what I want to do, pick out models that match the characters, and do a shoot. (It sounds like fun, but it’s actually really stressful, haha) With Finding Olivia the original concept was actually the restaurant kiss against the wall, because I didn’t want to have one of the things on her list on the cover. I thought that was saying: THIS ONE IS THE MOST IMPORTANT. But as I filled out the forms for Regina, I realized I was being stupid and dancing in the rain would be such a fun and different cover. Thank God the models didn’t mind getting drenched. (I actually have a really fun picture of that part)
10498577_10202341203673436_6786037102182702502_o

For Beauty in the Ashes, I wanted to do the first kiss scene where Caelan busts into Sutton’s apartment and pushes her against the wall. I had hinted at doing something with paint on the models, but Regina and I never discussed actually doing it. I figured the models would run screaming for the hills. So, I was really surprised when she did it (Like OH MY GOD THIS IS AHHHMAZING! Surprised) I was still against having one of those pictures on the cover, though. I thought people wouldn’t understand that it was paint. Regina was persistent about it and I’m so glad she was, because it’s PERFECT. The paint. The emotion. Everything about it suits the book. Plus, the paint is so unique and different. I don’t think I’ve ever seen another book with that on it. Haha.

Last question, what’s coming up in the future for you with upcoming release?
Next up is Saving Tatum, which is the fourth book in the Trace + Olivia Series. I’m planning for this to be the last one, but there wasn’t supposed to be a 2nd, or 3rd, and so on. Lol. I’m really excited about Saving Tatum and so in love with Jude. (Trace lovers, you might have a new boy to drool over) There’s so much more depth to Jude than readers knew in Tempting Rowan. Saving Tatum can be read as a standalone, but I do recommend reading the other books, at least Tempting Rowan when Tate and Jude first pop up, because there will be crossover.

After that, I’m working on a completely new book that I got the idea for only a few weeks ago. I’ll be posting more info about it in the coming months.

A HUGE THANK YOU to Micalea for answering my questions. xx

~REVIEW~

Pieces of Olivia by Melissa West astonished me. It left me tattering with the will to feel so much emotion that I will never forget. The narrative follows Olivia as she moves away from her family and the scares of her past to college. The hopes of a new future, are within sight and it a remarkable brilliant narrative.

Olivia was believable, her raw fluent expression streamed heavily into the deepest of raw emotions and pain. I got a real grasp of how the author wanted to portray the narrative through emotion and through growth, which I absolutely loved. What’s more, is the charm worthy night-and-shining armor of the male romantically drool worthy Preston, his name alone makes me quiver after reading Pieces of Olivia. After a chance first encounter the chemistry and the dynamic that Melissa intertwines of heart, trust, pain and friendship was a rarity of pure beauty that I don’t think is touched on in books much any more.

Olivia’s character has her flaws, as do most characters and the representation of real strength was heart-to-chest beautiful and without a doubt heart why I loved reading the novel so much. Preston and Olivia’s narrative isn’t without it’s obstacles and the walls that guide to be broken but it truly was such a moment-after-moment love that shone within the narrative. I can’t wait to read more from Melissa.

Title: Changing Forever (Rain 2, can be read as a stand alone)
Author: Lisa De Jong
Age Group: NA
Genre: Contemporary Romance
Cover Designer: Mae I Design

~Synopsis~

I’ve always let my past dictate my future, letting it paint a picture of exactly what I don’t want to be. Where I don’t want to end up.
Drake Chambers is as arrogant as I am stubborn. A college quarterback, a national star. I thought he was just another one of those guys … the type every girl should stay away from, but he’s carrying more than the weight of the football team on his shoulders.
He unravels the feelings and beliefs I’ve held onto for so long.
I thought we had it all figured out. Two people who’d finally found their happily ever after, but the past always has a way of sneaking into the present.
With one decision, everything changes … forever.

~Review~

I have to admit, I hadn’t heard of When It Rain’s the first installment in the Rain series until I pondered onto Changing Forever (Rain #2).

Boy was I missing out.

Lisa De Jong strung out emotion after emotion whilst I read Changing Forever. Emery and Drake’s narrative was a sonnet of raw flawless emotion and heart; first off it was a little weird to read.. my last name is Drake so that was fun because I didn’t think the name Drake was popular.

Moving on, the narrative was crawl into a ball and cry, smile with joy and a bundle of emotional feelings all in one. It hits all the right holes in one. Breathtaking, heartbreaking, strung with a book hangover was what I had. It was flawless in it’s ability to create headstrong and gorgeous characters that rope every emotion to your width end whilst reading.

“When you love someone, like that deep down, absorbent kind of live, you want to spend every minute you can with them. Being in love is the best feeling in the world, and once you have it, you’ll never want to lose it.” – Changing Forever by Lisa De Jong

I don’t give any spoilers away. It’s not me. Honestly though, a high recommended read and a 5 STAR rating because of the breathtaking, chain gripping emotions and narrative brilliance that is intertwined throughout the whole novel. Lisa, I am a new fan of yours and am so grateful for finding this story and you’re work

The confident Quinn is never nervous around men, so what is it about Reed that has her questioning everything? And what will be the side effects of attempting to juggle two men at the same time?
~ REVIEW~

At the mercy of the writer, I was. I am. Always. Its grounding foundation of beauty was the sonnet of emotion in Lisa’s newest release Side Effects. The powerful portrayal of a strong independent woman whose guard is always up and a man whose past pain leaves harrowing effects on his emotions lead a beautifully written narrative. Reading Side Effects, I fell in love with the narrative from the very beginning.

Quinn and Reed are steaming, repute on their feelings and ideologies of who is right for them, and that’s why it was magic to my ears that they created such electric chemistry. Quinn, knows relationships are never the go her past encounters ensured her of this. However, the threshold is broken and challenges are faced when she meets Reed. The admiration of love and compassion is seen throughout Side Effects as Quinn struggles, like most of us do to find what she really wants. Quinn and Reed brought beauty to the page on how emotions and feelings control so much of ours lives. The narrative and written expression took my breathe away in it’s beauty and I definitely would recommend picking up this stellar book. Definitely a highly recommended read and a 5 STAR rating. Lots of love and admiration for Lisa and the wonderful new release Side Effects.

~REVIEW~

Fireman in the house yall!

I totally have too much fun writing and reading, can you tell? I love me a fireman in the best of times. Shirtless, then you can count me in. Reading Determinism by LK Collins, I have to tell you it was a ball. Something about firefighter gets my heart beating.

Let me tell you something ABEL is HOT with a capital H. I fell in love with LK Collins writing in reading Fatalism and Determinism didn’t disappoint. Cara and Abel’s narrative was full of tension of the sexual kind, which made it such an amazing read. I love how LK creates characters that are relatable, because after all why do we read? to relate to characters and fall in love with a narrative. There is no denying that Abel is a sexalicious firefighter with tats that make you want to swoon. The chemistry between Cara and Abel is electric, it’s breathtaking and I could totally read it a million times.

I absolutely loved how fierce Cara was in trying to fight her attraction to Abel, but opposites attract right? In term Cara and Abel aren’t really opposites but can be seen as that. It created such an amazing dynamic because Cara’s heart wasn’t going to let go of Abel once she realised her true feelings. Judgment, passion and a very hot narrative made this an amazing read. It’s the saying of two broken hearts can make a whole one right? I totally understood this, in LK’s written work. It was expressive and powerful, yet didn’t go overboard with emotion. I rated it 5 STARS, because it was sexy, hot and just a beautifully written piece.

Aidan Stone captured our hearts in Spark and diving into Spike, I was all sorts of excited. One thing, I love about Jennifer’s writing is the heart and emotion that steams from the inner narrative of the characters. Reading Eevie and Aidan from the very beginning was a treasure. The raw emotion, the flaws and the dynamic created ensures that readers will be all hot and bothered, emotional and down right happy to fall in love with Aidan Stone.

I love motorcycles riders now. (Yes, because of Jennifer.) The heartbreak, the emotion and the love of the narrative brings great joy when reading. It is absolutely a work of art with dealing with the past, living in the moment and looking forward to the future. I am a little bit jealous of Eevie (and hey she’s fictional) because we all need someone like Aidan Stone. The novel wasn’t without it’s challenges with the introduction of Detective Ryan, and he is all sorts of swoon worthy too. Aidan still owns the heart though. Spike was pure love and heart within the written extraordinary mind of Jennifer Ryder. In this series, the ability to grow, to love, to cherish and to heal is beautiful. I would recommend reading Spike to anyone. A piece full of heart, raw emotion and a world that when all else crumbles two people stand combined.

Review

Wow. Just Wow. Have you ever read something that is simply define. It hits all the right notes, has you feeling passion and heart from the get go. Harbour by Penelope Louleas was a breathtaking beautiful, hot, lavishing novel I enjoyed from beginning to end. Lincoln and Harbour have earth-shattering powerfully written narrative that does justice to the exquisite mind that is Penelope to a tee. The chemistry is undying and beautifully raw in its rendition to poise the working relationship and the line between possibly falling for your boss.

My favourite quote from the novel is definitely this one.

“I don’t want Lincoln like you think I do, and I’m sure my feelings are reciprocated, so you have nothing to worry about. I would although be careful with your Oz references, because I do remember a house landing on the wicked witch, and her shoes were just like yours.”

As a debut author Penelope enchanted a high-powering successful CEO and an awe-inspiring eruption of chemistry in her debut novel that sizzled, strung and ignited such beauty. I loved the feeling of the novel, I was poised to continue reading because I fell head over heels for the chemistry, narrative and so much more. Harbour and Lincoln are definitely a highlighted couple of book romances so far for Book Lit Love this year. The whole written narrative from beginning to end was beautiful and elegant in its praise of heart and warmth. I can’t wait to read more from Penelope Louleas. Be sure to check the debut novel out now.

Tour: Out of Reach by Missy Johnson

Synopsis:

Andy and I had been best friends since we were eight-years old. Watching him slowly fade away, ever closer to his final breath, made me so incredibly angry. I knew there was nothing I could do to change it–I had given in to despair, but Andy had not. He had one last hand to play. He wasn’t going to simply sit back and wait for Death to claim him–not Andy. He was going to live life until he couldn’t hold his eyes open any longer.

Andy didn’t want to die in some sterile hospital and asked me to take him and Emily to the beach. It would be our last road trip together.

Emily. Emily was a problem for me. I harbored a secret that would have torn our friendship apart. I was in love with Andy’s girl, and had been since she’d walked into our sixth grade class, so many years ago.

So what kind of person am I? My best friend is dying, and it’s awful–but my heart still aches for his girl. I hate myself for thinking beyond Andy’s death and whether there could ever be a future for Emily and I, but I can’t help it. I love her.

About the Author: Missy lives in a small town in Central Victoria with her husband, and her confused pets (a dog who think she’s a cat, a cat who thinks he’s a dog…you get the picture).

When she’s not writing, she can usually be found looking for something to read.

Review:

Book Hangover 101. Tissues Check. Chocolate Check. Emotional Upheaval of an epic book Check. To summarize my emotions and the thoughts of reading Out of Reach by Missy Johnson is further than to just state it was emotionally passionate, loving and heart-breaking all at once. The characters, the narrative, the written work of Missy Johnson created an epic tale of beauty within the lines of hurt and staying strong.
Saying goodbye to someone you love is always hard. Out of Reach moved further than just your average love story, centric to the story was a life cut to short but worth every second. Andy wanted to live out his life with his girl and his best friend. I understand this story, more than words can describe. It was hard hitting for me to read, because it churned emotions on that were underneath layers. The believability and relatable nature of the narrative is what shined through like stars in the sky within the narrative. It was heart-breaking, loving and powerful in its portrayal of letting go after a loved one dies and finding love in the unexpected.
I loved Seth and Em there bond as best friends, and further ignited so much raw emotion in the writing. This book was a massive 5 LIT LOVE, as it touched on such an emotional issue and the narrative formed brought me to tears more than once. Live every day with meaning and happiness will be there.
