~REVIEW~

Pieces of Olivia by Melissa West astonished me. It left me tattering with the will to feel so much emotion that I will never forget. The narrative follows Olivia as she moves away from her family and the scares of her past to college. The hopes of a new future, are within sight and it a remarkable brilliant narrative.

Olivia was believable, her raw fluent expression streamed heavily into the deepest of raw emotions and pain. I got a real grasp of how the author wanted to portray the narrative through emotion and through growth, which I absolutely loved. What’s more, is the charm worthy night-and-shining armor of the male romantically drool worthy Preston, his name alone makes me quiver after reading Pieces of Olivia. After a chance first encounter the chemistry and the dynamic that Melissa intertwines of heart, trust, pain and friendship was a rarity of pure beauty that I don’t think is touched on in books much any more.

Olivia’s character has her flaws, as do most characters and the representation of real strength was heart-to-chest beautiful and without a doubt heart why I loved reading the novel so much. Preston and Olivia’s narrative isn’t without it’s obstacles and the walls that guide to be broken but it truly was such a moment-after-moment love that shone within the narrative. I can’t wait to read more from Melissa.

5 STARS.

~Synopsis~

Cali Parker is poor. She has a lot on her plate – her father is dying, she’s working to help pay the rent, and she’s two-years behind in college.

Griffin Brooks is rich. He has not a care in the world – he’s acing his engineering courses, his hobby is restoring his fifty-thousand dollar classic car, and he has a different girl on his arm every week.

When Cali sees Griffin on her first day of class, she’s immediately smitten and thinks she’s found the perfect guy. When Griffin sees Cali at the bank, he immediately forgets the blonde he was with that morning. Then they meet, and their worlds collide.

Cali doesn’t belong in Griffin’s world, and he doesn’t understand hers. But just when Griffin convinces Cali that their two different worlds can blend, a secret is revealed that tears them apart.

Is their love strong enough to bring them back together, or will their worlds drift further apart?

~Review~

Calling California by J.P. Grinder is a great, easy read. There are some twists that I didn’t see coming and one that I did. However, I enjoyed the fact that this is not your typical rich boy meets poor girl. There is pride, money, and family issues all mixed in. It is difficult for Cali who has grown up sometimes not knowing where her next meal is coming from. Also, believing that she should not trust taking money from anyone without them expecting something in return. Cali has so much pride that she doesn’t even like Griffin buying her a cup of coffee. She has had to take on a lot for a 19 year old.

This story shows us how easy it is to let pride and what you have believed to be true all your life ruin the best thing that has happened to you, in Cali’s case. In Griffin’s case you see how inspiring someone who has never had anything and has had the most horrible things thrown at them survive. it also proves that sometimes you have to lie to protect others. It isn’t a malicious lie but unless you are in that position you never know how you will Handel it. These two characters go through many life changing events but they learn that with each other they are better. There is a way to blend both of their worlds.

Their two hearts collide by chance and an undeniable connection is quickly
made.

But when others are plotting against their happiness, will their love flatline,
or will the rhythm of their hearts continue to beat as one?

REVIEW:
Can you strongly want to yell at (used with love of course) an author for writing a book that at the end you’re mind is empty or screaming at the same time. The Rhythm of my Heart is the debut novel by Velvet Reed and I have no words. The beauty that was written on every page, blows me away. Cole and Grace met under distress after Grace’s niece falls and Grace takes her to the hospital. Swoon worthy Cole is the doctor who attends to them and man of the book I must say.

The dynamic and chemistry that Velvet intertwined sweepingly through the narrative leaves heartbreak, love in having a tight knit supportive family and just a breathtaking beautiful book hangover that will have you thinking about the book for days.  As a debut Australian author, Velvet has done wonders in her debut ‘The Rhythm of my Heart ‘, I implore you to go and purchase this book and show your support to the truly wonderful and magnificent Velvet. A no brainer for me DEFINITELY 5 STARS! Hit all the right cords, strung my heart like floss and the end to DIE for! (Literally, I am still recovering)
P.S It does have a cliffhanger!

With our bodies aligned perfectly together, we dance; swaying along with the music as it changes and the start of “Heartbeat” by Enrique Iglesias penetrates through the room. This song is perfect because not only is my heart racing, but I can feel Cole’s beating wildly against my back. The lyrics speak volumes; Cole is already stealing my heart… I can feel it.
So lost in the song, it takes me a second to realize that my hair has been pulled to the side and Cole’s lips are peppering soft wet kisses along my neck and shoulder.
Goosebumps break out across my skin and desire ripples its way through my system. His touch is all-consuming and by God, I want and need to be consumed. “Grace,” he whispers as he kisses and licks my ear lobe. My body shudders in reaction and moves closer to him allowing contact with the very hard and impressive bulge that presses into my lower back.
Dear God, is it normal to feel like this so soon after meeting someone?
I turn in his arms without breaking contact and look directly into those bright blue eyes, which are heated and sparkling with desire. My gaze moves to his lips as his tongue trails across them and I lose all control. Throwing myself forward, I wrap my arms tightly around his neck and crash my lips to his.
As everything around us fades away, Cole’s arms engulf my body completely so that there isn’t even a millimeter of space between us. His hungry lips assault mine and I can feel the need radiating off him in waves. Our lips part, our tongues meet and embrace, dancing with each other in the confines of our mouths.
His taste is exquisite and his technique exceptional as he takes control of the kiss. I vaguely register his hands roaming my body as my fingers tangle further into his hair, pushing his head closer to mine. I don’t know how long we stand there so completely wrapped up in each other, but when we both pull back, our chests are heaving and our breathing labored.
Cole leans forward and rests his forehead against mine. My eyes close as I relish the sweet gesture. “Most spectacular first kiss ever, Sweet Cheeks.”
My heart swells at the comment and his new name for me. I really like it. “I couldn’t agree with you more,” I simply reply, knowing I will always remember this moment forever.

Review:

Dear Kelly’s talents never seize to amaze me. Every book. It’s beyond my expectations. I drop everything the moment they are released to read Kelly’s books. I am never disappointed either. Unconditional Love by the Kelly Master of swooning was no different. Dear, Lark can you pop up into my life somewhere please and swoop me off my feet. Lark and Azurdee have electric chemistry and from the very beginning Lark just has that swoon effect. Totally should be named the Kelly’s Swoon Effect.

The narrative is breathtaking, like words to a page; Kelly can truly give reader moments of sheer tears and absolute fit your pants laughter all in one book. Unconditional Love is one for the military hearts, the ones whose love ones are away from them and the unconditional love that binds couples. Azurdee is so headstrong and compassionate, with Lark’s dirty and somewhat frisky attitude I would expect nothing less of Kelly to write a beautiful novel of love, support, laughter and happiness. Lark and Azurdee are sizzling like fire on a barbeque and It was just so much fun to read. Fans of Kelly’s it’s a brand new series, although the reoccurrence of some familiar faces may come about, it was truly breathtaking, emotional and panting wetting all at once. 5 SPECTACULAR & WONDERFUL STARS.

Hello? Jessie?”
“What did you just ask me?” she said.
I chuckled. “After your first time. Were
you sore?”
Then she screamed. Right in my ear.
“Azurdee! You and Lark? Oh. My. God. Was it good?
I mean, I know it hurts at first, but after that? How many times did y’all? Was he sweet to you?
That bastard better have been sweet to you! Was it hot? Oh my God, tell me everything!”
I laughed as I made my way downstairs. I saw about a half dozen people out back cleaning up the rest of the reception.
Tables and chairs were being taken down and placed into a trailer.
“Azurdee!”
“Oh, sorry. I was watching them take down
the rest of the things from the reception.”
She let out a long sigh and said,
“Azurdee, spill it.”
I moved into the living room and sat down on the sofa. “Oh Jessie, it was amazing. He was amazing. He kept calling me mi amor!
It melted my heart every time he said it. He was sweet, passionate, and so gentle. It was beyond anything I had ever dreamed.”
She let out the silliest little yelp. “I knew Lark Williams had it in him.
He just needed to find the right girl.”
My stomach dipped a little and my smile faded a bit. “Well, I’m not sure if I’m the right girl or even the girl.”
“Wait. Was this a one-time thing? Please tell me you didn’t agree to him taking your virginity and walking away!”
“No. We both agreed that we would be exclusive, but I have a feeling this is the first time he has been exclusive
since…well since…” Why couldn’t I say her name?
“Nikki?” Jessie asked.
“Yes. Jessie, why do I feel like I’m in competition with someone who passed away years ago?
I can’t shake this feeling that he was comparing me to her.”
She let out a breath and said, “Pesh. Nonsense, Azurdee. He would never do that. I’m sure it was probably just very
powerful for him. I mean, by his own admission he has said he has no intentions of ever…”
Her voice trailed off and I knew she was regretting what she had just said. “Jessie, I knew how Lark was and how he thought when I
got into this. I know he could walk away at any given moment.”
I silently prayed that would never happen, but deep down inside I knew it was a strong possibility.
“He won’t walk away, sweetie. I see the way he looks at you. I think you are the game changer he’s been waiting for.”
I bit down on my fingernail and began chewing it. “Maybe. I don’t want to get my hopes up, ya know?”
“So tell me…are you sore?” she asked with a giggle.
I felt like a teenager in high school.
“Let’s just say he told me he was going to make it so I would think about him every time I moved…for a few days.”
Jessie let out a gasp and began laughing.
“Oh my.”
I dropped my head back onto the sofa and said, “Jessie…he is amazing. I mean…the way he can be so sweet and then so
dirty. Oh God. He had me going insane with lust for him.”
“The sweet part surprises me, but not the dirty,” she said with a laugh. I laughed in return and said, “Four times.”
“Four times! Look at the stamina Mr. Williams has!”
We both lost it in a laughing fit. “Jesus, Azurdee. No wonder you’re sore.”
“Bed twice, bathtub once, and then the shower,” I said in an almost whisper.

BreakingFences
Breaking Fences by Juliana Haygert
(The Breaking Series)
Publication date: June 2014
Genres: Contemporary, New Adult

~Synopsis~

All Beatriz “Bia” Fernandes wants is to prove herself—to her family and friends—though it’s hard to prove anything with an overbearing father and three famous polo-playing older brothers. After her acceptance into college results in a heated family argument, the Brazilian girl leaves everything behind to find her own American dream.
College life away from home is perfect until the people she believes to be her friends turn on her. With lies and rumors threatening to suffocate her, Bia turns to her only freedom. Riding.

But one thing gets in the way of her escape. Garrett Blackwell and his bad cowboy attitude. Working at the ranch is his obligation, bugging Bia is his newfound hobby. His thick skin and easy grin don’t hide what Bia already knows—this misunderstood and lonely cowboy fights his own demons. Brushing horses’ coats and mucking out stalls shouldn’t be this sexy, and it isn’t long before he becomes a part of her distraction.

However, escaping won’t solve her problems, and it’s up to Bia to break down the fences around her and prove her strength—not to her family and friends, but to herself … and for Garrett. Because standing on her own doesn’t have to mean standing alone.

** Companion novel of Breaking the Reins. Can be read out of order.**

Goodreads:

~Review~

Finding your independence away from your family is never easy. In Breaking Fences by Juliana Haygert, we are introduced to Bia a driven young lady who goes off to college in the hope to find her place in the world outside of the shadows of her brothers and their polo careers.

I adored reading this novel for many reasons. It was unique in it’s own right than other books I have read. Bia was a beautiful and remarkable character with charm and poise throughout everything she went through and all the obstacles that challenged her to give up.

Step foot into the introduction of the stud making me smitten with love with this novel. Garrett from the very beginning was heart-warming and the connection, fit of chemistry with Bia was beautiful to read. I admire the narratives growth and unique ability to bring different cultural beliefs into a tale of heart and strength, as it was believable and relevant. I generally felt the consensus of the book was beautifully written, however would have enjoyed a little bit more at the very end.

All embracing the novel was beautiful in it’s romantic spark, its heart-breaking moments of truth & hurt. Horses played a major roles and I could easily swoon over horses any day. Bia’s sanctuary is with horses, and Garrett charmed the pants off of me. I can’t wait to read more from the author. This is the second book in the series but can be read as a standalone. 5 magnificently glorious stars. X

~Synopsis~

I’ve always let my past dictate my future, letting it paint a picture of exactly what I don’t want to be. Where I don’t want to end up.
Drake Chambers is as arrogant as I am stubborn. A college quarterback, a national star. I thought he was just another one of those guys … the type every girl should stay away from, but he’s carrying more than the weight of the football team on his shoulders.
He unravels the feelings and beliefs I’ve held onto for so long.
I thought we had it all figured out. Two people who’d finally found their happily ever after, but the past always has a way of sneaking into the present.
With one decision, everything changes … forever.

~Review~

I have to admit, I hadn’t heard of When It Rain’s the first installment in the Rain series until I pondered onto Changing Forever (Rain #2).

Boy was I missing out.

Lisa De Jong strung out emotion after emotion whilst I read Changing Forever. Emery and Drake’s narrative was a sonnet of raw flawless emotion and heart; first off it was a little weird to read.. my last name is Drake so that was fun because I didn’t think the name Drake was popular.

Moving on, the narrative was crawl into a ball and cry, smile with joy and a bundle of emotional feelings all in one. It hits all the right holes in one. Breathtaking, heartbreaking, strung with a book hangover was what I had. It was flawless in it’s ability to create headstrong and gorgeous characters that rope every emotion to your width end whilst reading.

“When you love someone, like that deep down, absorbent kind of live, you want to spend every minute you can with them. Being in love is the best feeling in the world, and once you have it, you’ll never want to lose it.” – Changing Forever by Lisa De Jong

I don’t give any spoilers away. It’s not me. Honestly though, a high recommended read and a 5 STAR rating because of the breathtaking, chain gripping emotions and narrative brilliance that is intertwined throughout the whole novel. Lisa, I am a new fan of yours and am so grateful for finding this story and you’re work

~REVIEW~

Life In A Rut, Love not Included by J.D. Hollyfield was a breathe of fresh air intertwined with heartfelt romance. Sarah was in a rut, and there was no doubt about it. Bruised and battered emotionally by her ex-best friend and ex-boyfriend life just wasn’t what she envisioned it to be. I adored reading this book because of the sexy banter that J.D. created with the centric characters of Sarah and Jack. It was smoking hot, sassy in its quips to make me laugh and just a beauty rendition of love and finding love when you feel like you’re in a rut.

Life can sometimes take a turn into the unexpected and J.D. Hollyfield created a dynamic driven with sass, love, support, emotion and driven heartfelt romance that enchanted the page and us a reader from the very beginning. In a rut, Sarah wants more. Jack is drop dead swoon worthy and that’s why I enjoyed reading Life In A Rut, Love Not Included because it was light, fun, sassy and a beautiful heartfelt romance.

The confident Quinn is never nervous around men, so what is it about Reed that has her questioning everything? And what will be the side effects of attempting to juggle two men at the same time?
~ REVIEW~

At the mercy of the writer, I was. I am. Always. Its grounding foundation of beauty was the sonnet of emotion in Lisa’s newest release Side Effects. The powerful portrayal of a strong independent woman whose guard is always up and a man whose past pain leaves harrowing effects on his emotions lead a beautifully written narrative. Reading Side Effects, I fell in love with the narrative from the very beginning.

Quinn and Reed are steaming, repute on their feelings and ideologies of who is right for them, and that’s why it was magic to my ears that they created such electric chemistry. Quinn, knows relationships are never the go her past encounters ensured her of this. However, the threshold is broken and challenges are faced when she meets Reed. The admiration of love and compassion is seen throughout Side Effects as Quinn struggles, like most of us do to find what she really wants. Quinn and Reed brought beauty to the page on how emotions and feelings control so much of ours lives. The narrative and written expression took my breathe away in it’s beauty and I definitely would recommend picking up this stellar book. Definitely a highly recommended read and a 5 STAR rating. Lots of love and admiration for Lisa and the wonderful new release Side Effects.

✰REVIEW✰

Authors who change your way of thinking, dreaming, inspiring are the one’s to be most appreciative of. G.J Walker-Smith is exactly that for me. In a truly breathtaking and counter ship of emotions her latest release Silver Dawn pivots through every expectation, every emotion and every fiber of your body to create such a beautiful tale.

“Whoever said that we’re never sent more than we can handle is a liar. I couldn’t handle the horror I’d been burdened with that morning.” Silver Dawn by G.J Walker-Smith

I love the work; the craftsmen’s shift of creating a story so touching was just what G.J did with pure talent. It was heavy hearted to read, I have to admit. I would definitely suggest a box of tissues and some chocolate. The narrative follows Gabrielle and Alex back in Piper’s Cove, where a string of events leave Alex questioning his faith in life and Gabi in turmoil of the line between home and heaven.

“The things that scare us are never as daunting if you change the way you look at them.” Silver Dawn by G.J Walker-Smith

The leads and loose cannons that fly in Alex and Gabi’s direction where heartbreaking, my heart melted and shattered a million and one times whilst reading Silver Dawn. It was a truly exquisite novel on Alex and Gabi. The pain of not knowing the future, having little faith because of the catastrophic turn of events and sometimes just believing that everything happens for a reason is what guides a truly magnificent narrative of a million hearts and shadows of pain. A shattered heart and broken tear of 5 stars all in one. Beyond the words of the page G.J. Walker-Smith makes a difference.

*BOOK REVIEW* True by Erin McCarthy

true.indd

~SYNOPSIS~

A New Adult novel from USA Today bestselling author Erin McCarthy

When Rory Macintosh’s roommates find out that their studious and shy friend has never been with a guy, they decide that, as an act of kindness they’ll help her lose her virginity by hiring confident, tattooed bad boy Tyler Mann to do the job…unbeknownst to Rory.

Tyler has told Rory that he’s not good enough for her. She’s smart, doctor smart, while he’s barely scraping by at his EMT program, hoping to pull his younger brothers out of the hell their druggy mother has left them in. But he can’t seem to stay away from her, and even when Rory knows she should push him away, something about him makes it nearly impossible for her to resist—even though her heart is at stake…

Torn between common sense and desire, the two find themselves caught up in a passionate relationship. But when Tyler’s broken family threatens to destroy his future, and hers, Rory will need to decide whether to cut her ties to his risky world or follow her heart, no matter what the cost…

~REVIEW~

Mmm. Nothing says Romance like a ploy made by your friends to help you lose your virginity right?

Rory wants nothing more to not be labeled a virgin, so when her friends ploy to get Tyler the bad-boy with a capital B to help her lose her virginity she has no idea. Once the tables are cleared of this little ploy though flames and passion erupt. I loved this narrative because it showed such a lovely expression of voice within the characters and storyline. Rory being a 20 year old virgin was convinced she wasn’t attractive. This to me is totally relatable, as she is the shy girl who is always on the outskirts. (Totally like me.

The breathe of fresh air to Rory’s life walks in, in the form of Tyler Mann who generally is just trying to keep his family from breaking at the seams. I loved the background of the two characters because it brought so much to the narrative. I loved Tyler from the very beginning, he had such a good heart and I think that’s why I loved the chemistry between him and Rory. The written expression was flawless in the first book in the series. (totally want to stop writing the review and read it again)

Tyler and Rory together are like magnets there is something that intrigues Tyler about Rory and vice versa. A $100 dollar ploy from Rory’s best friends for Tyler to take Rory’s virginity doesn’t stop him from creating a bond with her.

It was told in Rory’s point of view, as her approach to life is logical and definitely has its challenges. I loved the drama, I loved the narrative, I loved the characters. I just loved it, that’s why I rated it a 4.5 Lit Love. sThe narrative has so much heart and I absolutely loved throughout everything the bond that was created between Tyler and Rory despite everything that happened. TRUER was my favourite word after reading the book. Xx
