He Belongs With Me

synopsis

Two girls. One Leo.

Identical twins, Maggie and Clara Ryder, both grew up with Leo Maddox, billionaire playboy, apparent alcoholic, and heir to his grandfather’s world-famous Maddox hotel empire. Their roles were cemented long ago: Maggie, as his best friend and Clara as his childhood nemesis.

But when a simple twist of fate changes everything and both girls start to fall for the lean, mean, ridiculously sexy and seemingly spoiled Leo… which girl will win his heart?

Throw in a little mischief, drama, and one smoking-hot bartender and lines are sure to blur. But one thing’s for certain, neither good-girl Maggie nor rebellious Clara will be satisfied until they each figure out where they belong.

*NEW ADULT ROMANCE. Recommended for 17+ due to sexual situations and adult language.

review

Where do I begin? The infectious debut novel by Sarah Darlington He Belongs With Me did nothing but ouzel words of heart and soul. It was passionate. Romantic. Heart felt. The narrative embedded heart melting, panty wetting moments that because of I literally couldn’t put down the book. You can probably tell by now, I have a thing for romances and especially the drop to your knees end up eating a whole tub of ice cream  because you don’t have a boyfriend romances.

Maggie and Clare are the dual protagonists of the narrative as identical twins who grew up with playboy Leo Maddox. At the very beginning, I had all sorts of images rolling through my brain to what Leo may look like. A Twist of fate in the most unlikely location made the narrative a heartwarming and good feel romance. I loved how Sarah took chances in her debut novel, because easily the characters could have taken different paths. It was heartwarming to see that Clara and Maggie both took chances in faith and show emotion.

The narrative was down to earth and played many of the love-hate relationships within the development and testing of feelings which I loved. The testing of feelings that developed throughout the book showed many levels of great skill in personal development of the characters through the writing. The characters had to face their own truths from past loves and new found loves which in turn created strong personalities and characters. As a debut novel writer, I loved the charm, belief and narrative that were created within the characters.

Overall I had so much love for this book and I rated the book a 5- Lit Love. It captured so much raw emotion and did such an amazing job at testing feelings, creating bonds and showing flawless emotions within the characters.

synopsis

Five days. Fifty square feet. One last shot at love.

Cash Rowland first laid eyes on the tenacious and irresistible Piper Sullivan when they were both seventeen. He falls for her hard and just when he thinks she’s doing the same, Piper is torn from his life without warning. She leaves no contact information but only a vague promise of fate.

Five years later, their paths unexpectedly cross. When he shows up with his eighteen-wheeler unannounced, Cash persuades Piper to head out on the open road to give him one last shot at love. But what should be a routine delivery across six states suddenly becomes an unforgettable journey when they save a woman with a broken past and discover that second chances are only for the lucky ones.

review

What happens when it’s just you and the guy you use to love on an open road?

Southbound Surrender was an enchanting read that brought love back together.  The narrative intertwined Piper Sullivan and Cash Rowland in a dual point of view read that carried emotion, heart and romance through a southern trip.  The narrative began in the Summer of 2008 through the first few characters creating the foundation of what Piper and Cash reactions and feelings towards each other result in.

In chapter 6, there was a time jump to Spring 2013 (5 years later) and the narrative brought back the result of the Summer of 2008. The time difference changed my perspective of the writing, but I still fell in love with the characters.  Raen does a unique job at speaking more directly to the reader as well as the character’s talking within the pages. The narrative does feel like the characters are talking to you as well as each other. This is the first book I have read like it and it was definitely an interesting experience.

Through the trek to Miami I really enjoyed how Raen enchanted the reader with characters coming along and daring mystery meat sandwiches through the journey.  A love that is missed but found again is what I truly loved about the narrative. The character development of Piper and Cash brought the reader to an undying love courtship. I loved the sass and expressions that Raen used within the book to show colour in the characters.

Overall, I loved the southern charm of the 5 day road-trip there were secrets told, love ignited and jumping into the surrender of the southern drive made this a lovely book to read. It was full of heart and romance. I found that Piper was the strong witty character I most enjoyed to read and discover her emotions and reasoning throughout the book. I rated Southbound Surrender a 4 Lit-Love as it was a lovely read that brought charm, love and an undying courtship to a lovely romantic narrative of Piper and Cash.

The pain was unbearable, but I had to keep moving. I had to keep running because, if I didn’t, he’d find me. I looked behind me as I ran through the streets; scared, alone, and in the dark as the mist of rain hit my face. There was no time to think, and there was no time to stop. My shoes were soaked as they sloshed through the puddles of the dimly lit streets.

My name is Rory Sinclair, and the night I was violently attacked was the night that changed my life forever. One man, a man named Ian Braxton, made it his mission to heal me, to save me, and to show me a world that previously had been only a dream to me.

Ian Braxton is far from perfect. He’s a self-absorbed, demeaning, arrogant, and womanizing millionaire. He makes it so easy to hate him, but so very hard to resist him. We’re from opposite sides of the spectrum. He comes from money and I come from poverty. When our worlds collide, his struggles become mine, and mine become his, leaving us with one question:

How much would you give up to be with someone who was meant to be yours?

As soon as I stepped through the door and into the kitchen, Ian grabbed me and pushed me up against the wall, holding my arms above my head. “Don’t turn your back on me, Rory. I’m sorry. I don’t think you’re trash. I think you’re broken and I can fix you,” he whispered in my ear.

His hot breath traveled down my neck and my body went into a near convulsion. I wanted him, but I knew if anything were to happen, it would destroy me. I would become too emotionally attached and when he got tired of me and moved on, I wouldn’t recover. He brought his face to mine as he stared into my eyes.

“I’m not broken. I’m shattered. I’m a million tiny pieces that would take longer than forever to piece back together. So please, do me the favor and don’t even try,” I whispered.

His grip on my arms lightened as he let go and took a step back, giving me one last look before he turned around and walked away. I stood and placed my hand on my neck where his hot breath had touched me. I took in a deep breath and walked upstairs. Tomorrow was the day I start my life over, alone.

Interview

Coming after the successful trilogy and novella in the Forever series, tell us a bit about the novel Lie Next to Me (A Millionaire’s love)?

The story is about learning to trust and finding your own strength and courage to keep moving forward and letting go of your fears.

Did you have to step out of your comfort zone in moving forward from the Forever trilogy, although the theme of wealth and being a womanizer at the beginning stands to be in similar with the male leads?

No, Lie Next To Me was very comfortable for me to write. Ian and Connor are similar in the fact that they’re both millionaires, but they come from different pasts and I think Ian is more closed off and not as vulnerable as Connor was. Ian is more of a jerk, lol.

Did you relate to a certain character within the novel or was there a personality trait that you explored that was new to you within the characters of Rory and Ian?

I could relate to Rory because she never gave up. No matter how bad her childhood was, she never let it define her in a negative way. She kept her head up and gained enormous strength from it. She’s a fighter and that’s how I’ve raised my daughters. Never give up, keep moving forward, and most importantly don’t let anyone bring you down.

Is Lie Next to Me a part of a series or a standalone book?

It’s part of a two book series for now. Will it become a trilogy? I don’t know yet. It’s up to Ian and Rory.

What do you enjoy most about writing and sharing your stories?

I love to give readers an escape from the daily grind of life and into a world of romance and possibilities. When I write, I escape and become so connected to the characters that they become part of my life and that’s what I love the most. I love to share my passion with my readers.

Tell us about your readership. What kind of readers do you hope this narrative appeals to?

To be honest, I hope it appeals to everybody. This book is mostly for readers that love romance and a HEA!

A lot of writers become authors by readings and falling in love with the notion of creating a world that can impact on a reader’s life. Did you always set out to be a writer and create the stories that you tell for the readers?

Ever since I was little, I had stories in my head that needed to be told so I would write them out in the form of poetry. I wrote a lot of poetry growing up and even won a few awards for them. About a year and a half ago, while I was working at the hospital and hating every waking second of it, I thought to myself, “There has to be more to life than this.” I also thought about my college English professor that pulled me aside one day and asked me if I had ever considered writing a novel based on stories I had to write for class. Writing has always provided me with an escape and I wanted to share some of my stories that were going on in my head with the world. I never thought in a million years that Forever Black would have touched the lives of so many people. It’s just amazing to me how the trilogy evolved and really had an impact on people’s lives, especially those with cancer.

Lastly, If there is one piece of advice you could give an inspiring author what would it be?

Have all your ducks in a row before you hit the publish button. An editor, cover designer, proofreader, beta readers and most importantly, support!

*BOOK REVIEW* A Twist of Fate- T. Gephart

Today’s book review is on the lovely ‘A Twist of Fate’ by  T. Gephart. An amazing read and exquisite narrative.

18397583

synopsis

Lexi is a successful PR manager for a multinational firm, based in Melbourne, Australia. She is an energetic and impulsive soul whose passions sometimes control her life. Through a twist of fate she is chosen to represent a famous client, catapulting her into a new life in New York – fulfilling her in a way that she had never imagined.

When Lexi meets Alex, sparks fly. Their chemistry is explosive and they can’t get enough of each other. Her role as the PR manager for his band, Power Station, means that they have to keep their arrangement secret and this proves to be a complication for both of them.

The story follows the twists and turns of six months in Lexi’s life, exploring the complicated rules she creates to govern her relationships and the friends that help her realize that life is more fun when you throw out the rulebook and that love is a major part of being happy.

review

Crowd’s flow, people scream and a band sets up to play live. A Twist of Fate by T Gephart made my inner fan girl scream when we meet Lexi Reed and Alex, guitarist of Power Station. A connection that could set an individual’s loins on fire, created a truly breathtaking emotional and fun uplifting novel.

The narrative throughout this book kept me on my toes and made me love the read even more. Is there something about guitarists that make people go crazy? I can testify to that for sure. Lexi and Alex meet under unfortunate circumstances but Lexi’s fight and Alex’s big mouth set flames to fire in their first encounter.

Through the chance encounter due to Lexi’s heroics, Lexi also lands a massive job securing Power Station as a client at her PR firm, thus beginning the narrative and connection between Alex and Lexi.

The power of Lexi’s fight is why I enjoyed reading this narrative so much. Lexi is a fighter, and she will stand up for herself. I admire T.  for creating a character that inexplicitly doesn’t let go of what she believes in and will fight for it.

The old saying opposites attractive seems like a fitting title, for Lexi and Alex’s relationship. At the end though, Lexi and Alex I believe are similar in that they look out for what’s important. To Lexi it’s about taking care of herself to Alex it’s having the support of his family and friends.  I loved so many characters throughout the novel like James and Dan.

T. did a truly amazing job at creating an uplifting and amazing contemporary romance that I could literally read a million times. Through the narrative, Alex and Lexi discover what it’s like to fall for someone and be taken on a journey of passion, love and sacrifice.

The passion, the music, the love of a good guitar playing romance all comes into play within the narrative of A Twist of Fate. It was definitely a twist of fate that brought Lexi and Alex together and through the ups and downs of the narrative at the end Lexi and Alex have to decide what is enough and is what they have worth fighting for.

Overall, I loved this narrative so much. It brings heart, humor and passion into a intertwined tale of love and profession. Lexi and Alex created such a unique pairing where they play of each other and create great chemistry.  I rated this book a 5 star Lit Love.
